Gift Ideas For Toddlers

Whether it’s for Christmas, birthdays or just because, I’ve put together some gift ideas for toddlers to share with you. This is actually what we are gifting our 2.5 year old little girl for Christmas this year, with a few mentions from last Christmas as well. We tend to lean more towards a minimalistic approach when it comes to gifts. The first few items come from a toy shop in Rockland Maine called Bella Luna Toys. Hide-And-Seek Bunnies

These adorable bunnies in this zippered carrot pouch are handmade in Thailand of hand woven cotton. I thought these would make a nice gift for toddler car rides and a quiet little toy in church. I’m sure she will love these!

Mushroom Kaleidoscope

These cute kaleidoscopes come in three colors; red, green and yellow. We got one for each of our children’s stockings this year. What child wouldn’t enjoy a kaleidoscope? They are fun to look through, as you can imagine, with the changing light and patterns as you turn it.

Wooden Toy Car

When considering gift ideas for toddlers, I like to try and think of gifts that do not contain batteries or screens. Gifts that are more open-ended and that foster imagination tend to stand the test of time. This wooden car by Grimm’s fits that description. Made in Germany with non-toxic dyes, this car is sure to last and keep your little one imagining over and over again. It could be a police car, an ambulance, or Grandma on her way to visit with cookies! And of course many other things as well.

Toy Fried Egg

This toy egg is designed by HABA in Germany. Our little girl loves to play with her little wooden kitchen, and I thought this would make a fun addition. She does not have much at all in the way of play food, as the hand-me-down wooden set we currently have is missing many pieces. Tip for stuffing the egg in the shell: it closes easier if you stuff the small half of the shell first.

Wooden Toy Baking Set

As I said above, we currently do not have much for toy food. I plan to discard the remaining mismatched pieces after she opens this new baking set. Made in Germany, this beautiful set contains milk, flour, sugar, salt, butter, eggs and chocolate; everything they need for “baking goodies” over and over. This one is sure to be a hit.

Bird Memory Matching Game

This beautiful set of wooden bird tiles will make for lots of fun! You can start with just 2 or 3 matches for the littlest ones and build up from there, learning about the different birds as you go! And it comes with a cloth storage bag as well!

Weighted Baby Doll

This weighted baby Waldorf doll was our little girl’s Christmas gift last year. This is her holding it just the other day. It is one of her most favorite toys, and she plays with it every day! This one is the “Little Heavy Baby”, weighing 1.5lbs. They also have a “Heavy Baby Waldorf Doll” That is just the same but weighing 4.5lbs. These beautiful dolls are filled with organic lavender scented millet and have bunting (sack style) bodies. She has dubbed hers “Millet Baby” and lugs it everywhere! When holding it, you can’t help but feel calm-it feels very much like holding a real baby! She also loves the Wooden Baby Bottle from Etsy we gave her to go with it, and uses it to “feed” all of her dolls.

Kinetic Sand

Any of the Kinetic Sands make great gift ideas for toddlers! The sand never dries out and is quite fun and mesmerizing to play with! Makes for easy clean up too! Add spoons, animals, cars and little cups and you have good entertainment for your little one!

Animal Figurines

Speaking of toy animals….. It has become tradition in our home to give each child a Schleich animal figurine in their stocking for Christmas. They have a collection going now, ranging from chickens and pigs to wolves and moose. We like Schleich because they are durable and realistic looking.
